Ai Peoples-Nilson was born in Los Angeles, California, USA. She possesses many artistic skills consisting of painting, drawing, design, craftsmanship, creative concept development with herbal and energy healing. She utilizes materials such as concrete, glass, wood, fabric, ceramics, metal, acrylics, graphics and people in her artworks. Her charcoal portraiture, abstract canvases, digital media, murals, photography, jewelry designs and herbal recipes has gained global recognition. Ai has worked, studied and collaborated with many aspiring and established artists to create one vision. Her works can be found in publications, homes, offices, institutional facilities and art galleries worldwide.
The artist’s inspiration comes from various aspects of her life. This includes nature, colorful people, city movement, rainy deserts, rural life from her residence of Southern California and Arizona.She is driven by the metaphysical energies in which she expresses with vibrant colors in her works. Ai’s sometimes uses ancestral references from Haiti, West Africa and Indigenous America too. More of her influences include Prince, Hendrix and 80's and 90's Hip-Hop.
