Ai Peoples-Nilson was born in Los Angeles, California, USA. She possesses many artistic skills consisting of painting, drawing, design, craftsmanship, creative concept development with herbal and energy healing. She utilizes materials such as concrete, glass, wood, fabric, ceramics, metal, acrylics, graphics and people in her artworks. Her charcoal portraiture, abstract canvases, digital media, murals, photography, jewelry designs and herbal recipes has gained global recognition. Ai has worked, studied, and collaborated with many aspiring and established artists to create one vision. The artist’s inspiration comes from various aspects of her life. Nature, people, the cities, deserts and rural areas from her home of Southern California and Southwest Arizona. Ai’s sometimes uses cosmic and her ancestral references from regions of Haiti, West Africa, and Indigenous America. What also inspires her work is the energy of bold colors, and love of Prince, Hendrix and lyrical hip hop music. Ai believes self awareness is foremost on the deepest spiritual level while being outwardly expressive of it. And, color therapy is essential to healing and wellness. She serves as a holistic health practitioner, an art educator and an international certified consultant of interior design.
